2024 in Review from US

Science is US |

In 2024, Science is US continued to promote the importance of science and engineering as paramount to American success. As champions of science, we engaged with elected officials, community leaders and other stakeholders and elevated stories of STEMM professionals and other individuals making a difference in the STEMM ecosystem.  We look forward to an even more impactful 2025.

A few highlights from us:

  • Science is US expanded our core People of Science social media campaign to include Champions of Science—leaders advancing STEMM across different economic sectors. We highlighted 15 individuals from nine different states.
  • We disseminated legislative session recaps highlighting high-priority bills to our stakeholders in Maine, Florida, Georgia and New Mexico. In response to requests from state leaders, we also expanded our artificial intelligence resources.
  • We joined AAAS’ STEMM Opportunity Alliance as a partner and were included in the program’s national strategy launched at the 2024 White House Summit on STEMM Equity and Excellence in May. Our work was also featured in the inaugural Multidisciplinary Working Group’s report on facilitating inclusive pathways into the STEMM workforce.
  • Together with lead state partner organizations, Science is US co-hosted events with hundreds of collective attendees, including STEM Day at the Florida Capitol and the inaugural STEM Education and Workforce Summit at Georgia Tech.
  • Building on our collaboration with the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, we organized a follow-up webinar series that focused on policies to advance Maine’s economy. We were honored to have U.S. Senator Angus King join us for the second part of the series in November.
  • Over the course of the year, our efforts garnered media coverage in a number of outlets including Florida Politics, WABI-TV and Inside U.S. Trade.
